On April 16 Kona’s going country with the first ever Kona Town Hoe Down.

The 5 p.m. event at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel will feature live country music performed by the Dave Toland Band, southern rock and blues by Bottle Of Blue, line dancing and instruction, Hillbilly Fashion Contests for cash and liquid prizes, as well as comedy, fun and games courtesy of the Alohahas.

Toland has six self-titled country albums and has toured with Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker, Oakridge Boys, Eddie Rabbit, Ricky Nelson and many others.

Tickets are $20 and are available at Kona Wine Market, Soundwave Music, Studio 55 Boutique and Kiernan Music. VIP tickets are $25 and available from Rebacca Logan from Aloha Insurance.
